Malian bogolan — earth-dyed mudcloth with hand-drawn geometry.
Swatch shows the same line — Signal over noise — rendered in this material, so the surface is the only variable.
SURFACE: Narrow strips of hand-loomed cotton sewn edge to edge — the STRIP SEAMS must be clearly visible as slightly puckered vertical joins crossing the whole cloth, with tiny alignment mismatches between strips. The cloth was painted with fermented mud over a yellow n'gallama dye bath, so the ground is a deep blackish-brown and the motifs are the undyed off-white cloth reserved between them, with soft bleeding at every edge, faint brush hesitation marks and uneven dye density where the mud sat thicker. Palette strictly earth - blackish-brown, rust-brown, undyed cream, and a little ochre — NO blue at all. Motif vocabulary is strictly rectilinear and symbolic - grids, checkerboards, zigzag rows, concentric squares, arrow rows, short dashes and dot fields, arranged in bands. Cotton weave and slubs clearly visible; one frayed edge. SKELETON: auto by page role (cover / chapter / list / compare) DEVICE: the page's argument drawn as a form native to this material END: Full-bleed 16:9 — render DEVICE on the SURFACE, per the page's composition. CRITICAL: title in clean legible English; NEVER invent extra words or non-English glyphs; annotations only as marks / numbers / dimension lines; no UI, no cards, no captions.
